When we go to Florence at Christmas time it seems like a different town. We are not there to run our art vacations in Italy, that’s in April, when the hills are covered in apple blossom and the spring sun glows yellow across the river Arno. We go there every December to celebrate our wedding anniversary when Florence shows it’s other side, one that is kind of mysterious, as if it still lives in mediaeval times. There are very few tourists, no queues at the entrance to the beautiful Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. Every street is decorated with Christmas lights and in every square there’s an enormous Christmas tree. Our next Florence painting holiday in Italy is scheduled for 2025. It’s always fabulous and we love it!!
