Marialena

I bought this plant for Marialena in April and it is still blooming in November and looks as pretty as ever. Marialena is quite elderly now. She sits on her terrace when the weather is fine and not too hot. I pass her in my car at least once a day and we wave to each as do our guests in the weeks of Art Toscana Art Courses in Italy. She invites me in for coffee and poor Marialena has to be subjected to a conversation with someone who speaks very bad Italian. It is always a great pleasure to see her and talk to her. Every spring I buy her a plant which is placed on the little table beside her chair on the balcony. The begonia was this year’s plant and we were both amazed at how it has bloomed relentlessly and still looks so fresh and summery. Best not to think about summer already and to stay in the moment but it’s difficult for me when our Art Toscana Painting Holidays in Italy bookings are coming in thick and fast.
