Venice, the world’s most beautiful city of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, canals, piazzas, palaces and exquisite art is the setting for our April painting and drawing course.
We will stay in the ISTITUTO CANOSSIANO, a charming monastic palazzo, whose origins date back to the 17th century, situated in the Dorsoduro district of Venice close to the Ponte dell’Accademia on the Grand Canal.
The mixed media course will commence with a sketching tour of Venice from the Dorsoduro district visiting Ponte dell’Academia, The Grand Canal, Ponte di Rialto and Piazza San Marco. Our guests will paint at the famous Squero di San Trovaso boatyard where the gondolers are made, views from Palazzo delle Prigioni, sketching in the Doges Palace and Basilica di San Marco. Larger scale mixed media work will be developed in the studio.
On the free day guests may wish to visit the islands of Burano and Murano.
All materials, equipment, and a sketch book are provided.
For non-painters we are able to offer excellent sight seeing tours with an experienced Venetian guide.
Chris Bell and Tony Phillips will be tutoring this course.
